INFO
The times of darkness in Czech history.
DURATION
Approx. 4 hours - can be extended upon request.
The Old Town Square was a site of glorious festivities but also of horrible executions. We will see the astonishing Astronomical Clock with the 12 Apostles appearing in the 2 windows and the skeleton ringing the bell. Around the corner from there we will see the 27 crosses of Czech noblemen that were publicly executed. Then we continue towards the Charles University (the oldest in Central Europe) and the Estates Theatre where Don Giovanni was premiered, and later Milos Forman’s famous Amadeus was filmed.
The Jewish Town is a treasury of old traditions and customs of Jewish people. During this tour we will see the oldest active Synagogue in Europe and the birthplace of Franz Kafka. We will talk about the rabbi Jehuda Löw Benzalel, who made the famous creature „Golem“. As we go to the cemetery you might like to bring your stone to place on a gravestone. Entrance fees to all parts of the Jewish Museum: Maisel Synagogue, Pinkas Synagogue, Old Jewish Cemetery, Klausen Synagogue, Ceremonial Hall and Spanish Synagogue.

Our tour was excellent. It was easy to book online and Vida, our tour guide, was very professional and knowledgeable. She showed us numerous sights in Prague emphasizing the Jewish aspect of each. The tour progressed at our pace - feeling neither rushed nor wasting our time at a site. Vida seemed tried hard to ensure that we enjoyed our visit. I would highly recommend this tour.
